Very early 1820's and very rare wood shoulder head doll on the original cloth body with wood spoon shaped forearms. This is a fabulous early doll,and rare because it is a carved wood shoulder head. It has some really old repainting in the nose area, but there is some wear to the paint. The hair is carved in a short hairdo with lines to indicate hair. She is wearing antique underwear, antique socks and an exquisite antique blue dress. A similar doll is on the cover of the book Dolls The Early years 1780-1880. |
