Manufacturer: Conte and Boehme
Conta and Boehme Unusual China doll. She is 12 inches tall and according to Identifying German China dolls page 88 was made by Conta and Boehme 1870. She ha a should head with an unusual hairstyle, black braids are molded from the center part down to the neck leaving the ears exposed. The back of the hair is combed down from a smooth crown to form two rows of vertical curls banded by a molded ribbon and small bow. The doll is on the original cloth body, the cloth from the arms appears to be newer then the rest of the body but the arms are correct age for this doll. She has black flat shoes, the surface on the glaze is a not as smooth as most legs, and the toes are turned up a bit. She is wearing antique white underwear and an antique white dress all which are most likely original to the doll. She has no chips, cracks or hairlines. Very pretty early unusual doll
