Very Rare Simon Halbig 1308 Male Doll being sold as is. He is 13 inches. He is a gorgeous extremely rare Simon Halbig doll. He has had some professional restoration, in the photo there are some light areas that is flashback from the camera the doll does not have a shine. He has Solid domed bald bisque socket head, dark blue set glass eyes in deeply modeled eye sockets, distinctively sculpted nose with flaring nostrils, closed mouth with wide and very full brown sculpted moustache covering the upper lips, dark auburn mohair wig, The body is the original composition and wooden fully-jointed body with the original finish. The head is not marked but it is in reference books as a 1308.. An identical doll to this mold number recently sold at auction for $35,000 that one was 20 inches this one is 13 inches although just as rare, according to the price guides. The doll is circa 1902, the model number was used by the firm for several different models, each distinguished by a letter, in this case the letter C; other models include 1308 D as a man with a moustache chimney sweeper, and 1308 E as a child with closed mouth. He is exceptionally rare model of which few examples are known to exist. He is wearing a well detailed original black tuxedo suit, white shirt, black socks and black satin shoes, and black top hat. The repair was made on the top and back of the head, there is also a small touch up to the right eyebrow. It is a professional repair and most of it was under the wig. There are no restorations in the main facial area. The wig has been re-glued. He is a rare find and priced accordingly because of the repair, he books at $10,000 and up and has sold at auction for significantly more. |
