Circa: 1900 Manufacturer: Kestner
Beautiful large Kestner 172.5 Gibson Girl. She is an 18 inch bisque shoulder head with a all kid body with pin hinged joints. The doll has bisque lower arms. She has blue sleep eyes with wax lids, painted upper and lower lashes. She is wearing a beautiful outfit right out of a Gibson Girl drawing by Charles Dana Gibson, the outfit is a blue and tan cotton skirt and vest, with a white shirt, white full slip and pantaloons, black socks and black leather shoes. The clothing is all hand sewn, with lots of details, pockets on the vest, the skirt is sewn in sections to form the A line type skirt, and large mutton sleeves on the blouse typical of the Gibson Girl look. She has no chips or cracks. The wig is a beautiful mohair wig pulled up to form the Gibson Girl top knot. She is an extremely beautiful example of this doll with a wonderful costume. |
